Editor - The Macular Degeneration Network

Paul T. Finger, M.D. has a research interest in the use of ionizing radiation to treat "wet" macular degeneration. He has authored most of this web site to help patients understand macular degeneration and related eye diseases. It explains why certain diagnostic tests are needed. Dr. Finger believes that patients should understand their eye problem and how it is diagnosed. They should understand what treatments are available for them and the risks, benefits and long-term effects of each treatment.

A Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the New York University School of Medicine, Dr. Finger graduated from Tulane University and Medical School. Following a medical internship at St.Vincent’s Medical Center in New York City, he completed his residency in ophthalmology at the Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital in New York City.

Dr. Finger is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Finger donates his time to treat patients at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and Bellevue Hospital and lectures frequently at most of New York’s teaching centers.
